Adventures with the Met Gala

So disappointing.  I tried to pick some favs, but it was really really hard.  What were your favs?

Only because I love Brian Atwood and felt like I needed to include a man other than Tom B.

Birthday Adventures

Yesterday was my birthday and it was great.
I took the day off and it was a perfect spring day in Boston. I started off with Pure Barre at 7:10 am and then I went to Bella Sante and got the best facial. I woke up this morning and my skin still looked awesome. I have never had one that had such great results.  I already booked another one. I then went and had my hair highlighted and blown out.  Met the bf at his house for early bday wine before dinner.  We went to my favorite little North End oyster bar, Mare, for oysters, dinner and espresso martinis. All in all it was such a success and I felt very loved and pampered. We are headed on vacation next week to continue the celebration.

I also spent too much money on this little shirt yesterday, but feel like i can get a lot of wear out of this summer.

I am already loving May. The weather is awesome and I have so many fun things planned. This weekend is a bachelorette party with some of my most favorite people - ever. Next weekend I will be on vacation on the beach (hopefully) with margaritas in hand and then the following weekend a wedding. Then, memorial day is right around the corner and Hello Summer.

Adventures in DIY (Products)

I am not much of DIY'er at all, but this morning out of necessity of needing a semi tan and the aching need to not wear tights to work on 70 degree day, I made a bottle of tinted moisturizer for my body/legs and it came out awesome.  Plus, it smells so much better than that Jergen's go darker gradually stuff.

I took this (about 3/4 of a bottle left)....

... and Mixed it with this sample of Jouer tinted moisturizer  I received the sample from Birchbox, but it was way too dark/orangey for my skin-tone.  I am sure if you have older tinted moisturizers they could work too.

This may be my favorite new thing...
Other uses for samples by making my own products out of them.
Now, I am only steps away from starting my own skincare line.... Watch out La Mer, I am coming for you.

Adventures in Flats

I used to be such a heels person. The higher the better. They make the legs look longer and thinner. They obviously make you taller. I could walk miles in heels and never blink. Hell, if you asked me to run in them, I could probably do that too. That ship has sailed, I think... It is most likely caused by love affair with riding & motorcycle boots and booties and then realizing - damn these things are comfortable. If I wear heels now, it has to be almost a special occasion (dress up). Work days, while I still may wear heels, they need to be a wedge or at least a stacked/thicker heel.  I run around all day and have taken way too many near spills with a pointy little heel slipping out beneath me.
My last two show purchases have been flats and I am loving them.  Some of  my favorites currently.

Adventures with the Show Must Go On.

I love this picture and will need to get it enlarged or buy the magazine to have the cover framed.

Things are starting to get back to normal around here. Boylston Street has opened again, but I am having a hard time walking down it or past the bombing site still. I don't want to tread on where so many people were hurt and killed. I still feel like it is a bit disrespectful,  but I know I will have to do it soon. I do know that I need to support these business on Boylston since all of them were shutdown and it is part of helping our own community/city out.  I said last night to bf, I am still not ok with it and don't think I will ever be, but I think like everyone else it will just take time to forgive what happened and try to move on.

Adventures with Gwyneth

I know she gets a lot of hate, but I am kind of obsessed with her. Totally celeb girl crush. I think for some reason she is super funny. She may not be the most approachable person in the world, but I don't fault her for that. She is a celeb. Anyway, I had a weird dream last night that I was going to be her personal assistant. She was lying on a couch asking me to call Jay-Z and Bey about something (I really do think she said Hova instead of Jay-Z... Is that his nickname or is that from the mindless crap I read while watching more mindless crap). I do remember in my dream that I was so very happy to be working for her and couldn't believe it. I was also hired to write for Goop and it was a dream come true.
So, to my surprise, this morning she was named People's Most Beautiful Woman and I agree with their pick. For once!

Adventures in Music (Phillip Phillips)

At first, I didn't realize that Phillip Phillips was on American Idol because I don't watch it. I only found him because of my Dave Matthews and Mumford & Sons Pandora playlist. Also, because I loved that Home song that was on constant rotation a few months ago. Honestly, I thought it was Mumford at first... Now he is on constant repeat on my Pandora, I Heart Radio and now on my iTunes. It has been a long time since I have heard a whole album that I love so much. So, if you are looking to replace your Jack Johnson playlist for this summer, Phillip x2 is a really good choice.

Here are a few of may favorites.

Adventures in thoughts of being in Boston.

In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun...
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed,
This world you must've crossed... she said...

It has taken me awhile to figure out what to say or write about for the last few days, but today as I am sitting here frustrated and annoyed that some 19 year old demented asshole can ruin so many lives, I am getting more and more frustrated.

I live and work in Back Bay. I work basically across the street from wear the bombs went off and felt both of them in my building.  It has been hard to walk by the area and think about the pain caused, to walk up my office stairs and see the debris street allover from the bombs, to hear the sirens throughout the day and night, the helicopters overhead, the news vans parked up comm ave mall, the cops lined up on every corner and armed guards everywhere. I have told myself over and over again, I am so lucky and I do feel lucky. And, I feel very safe.

I love Boston and have since I was 16. I visited once in high school and was determined to go to school here and have my life here. I haven't had any thoughts of leaving and still don't. As I sit in my apartment today being told to stay locked away, it is so beautiful out and I want to be outside, I want to walk to work and I want to walk my dog on the Charles.

I went to Pure Barre this morning and during stretches "Boston" played and I cried. I felt so sad for my city and all the people who are hurting, but yet I still feel lucky. This of course is before walking out and being told we need to get home and lock the doors because that pyscho is on the loose.

Weekend Adventures

Had a perfect little weekend.

Friday pizza, wine and movie night with the bf... Made him watch Playing for Keeps. It was awful and I missed the last ten mins since I fell asleep during the movie as usual.

Saturday, we woke up early. The bf made me some tea, had a little fruit for breakfast and decided to head out for a run. It was way too windy so we nixed it and we went to the gym instead.
Went to this cute/awesome store in the Seaport that just opened called the Bee's Knees. It is kind of like if a Whole Foods and an old Vermont country store had a baby.  It is just awesome and I so wish it was walking distance from my apartment. Although, if it was, I would be so poor.

We then went to Legal's on the Harborside for an oyster lunch.

I had plans that afternoon with some of my Marblehead girls.  It was a trunk show/wine afternoon at a friends house.  My friend's friends started a biz called Birdaria... If you love preppy and fun, you can find a lot of cute inspirational things here for yourself and for gifts... I am little obsessed now.

Saturday evening bf, nephew and I went out to dinner to watch basketball and then back home for some more basketball. I was in bed at 9:30 on a Saturday night, so I luckily missed Syracuse loosing.

I haven't crammed so many things into one day in so long...

Sunday, bf, nephew and I went to brunch and then I was off to Pure Barre since I need a little down/me time and also, because I may have eaten way too many snacks and wine in a 48 hour period.  Later that day was naps while watching golf... I made a yummy Sunday dinner with some our Bees Knees purchases. Which ended with Games of Thrones and Californiacation and bed. The end for me.

I love waking up on a Monday feeling like my weekend was fun and that I enjoyed it. Perfect mix of love, friends and life time. I think now that the weather is changing, my energy and need to be out and about will be better. Finally.

Adventures in Eye Rolling

Gosh, I may be getting old... While I still love me some love celeb tracking, I really wish I would stop seeing all these people so much or at all.

Adventures with Madewell (Spring Wants).

I will preface this by saying I have only ever bought one piece from Madewell. It was an eternity scarf in deep purple and I loved it for that whole day that I owned it.  I live about 2 blocks from Newbury and on my way to Pure Barre everyday I have to pass by Madewell. Most of the time it is closed because I am walking by too early or too late, however, I do take notice of their awesome window displays... which leads me to their website... which leads me to want to buy something. So smart!

Here are a few of my spring favs so far...  It looks like I am still loving all stripes, dots and plaids for spring.

This belt is a must get! How perfect with white jeans.

Adventures w/ Matchbook Magazine.

I found this little gem of a website randomly via a store I liked on facebook. I love it for a few reasons.
1) It is in magazine form, so it is great to save and read on your iPad.
2) You can read daily since it is also in blog form.
3) It gives you great fashion advice for clothes and for home decor.
4) It is relevant and the items they discuss are attainable.
5) It is all free...

I get psyched every month when I see the update on FB that the new mag is available.

Shared here for your perusal....

Weekend Adventures & Some Other Things.

For some weird reason, I kind of love when the first day of the month is on a Monday...Makes everything seem so orderly.

We went to Vermont for Easter weekend and to sneak one more day of snowboarding in before the snow melts. It was so unbelievably gorgeous out that I was psyched to be outside all day.  Easter was a pretty lazy/boring day.  I wasn't in the best mood and hope it isn't the onset of bday blues. Was feeling very frustrated about a few things which made me antsy.

Was looking forward to Game of Thrones... Made some sleepy time tea and head bobbed all the way through it.  Will probably need to watch again tonight.

Adventures in Rachel Zoe

Last night I caught up on the RZP...  It was my favorite episode in a long time since it went back to the styling aspect and less about her own fashion line.
RZ styled a shoot for InStyle using the gorgeous Jamie King and my most favorite dress by Louie.  Seriously, besides her awful whinny husband and Rachel constantly saying "skyskiiii" it was a great episode. Also, her kid doesn't help with the baby fever. So cute!
